About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Public Policy and Government Affairs to lead the organization's strategic engagement with government entities, regulators, and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive public policy and government affairs strategy that aligns with the company's business objectives, particularly in the areas of electric power generation and distribution. This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, General Counsel, and executive leadership team, providing guidance on a wide range of legislative, regulatory, and political matters. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with policymakers, monitoring and influencing energy policy developments, and leading advocacy efforts to support the company's goals in the energy sector. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree or JD preferred, and at least 15 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related area. The role requires a deep understanding of the energy industry, including experience with regulated utilities, independent power, and renewable energy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in policy and advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as the ability to lead a high-performing team and manage external advisors. Strong communication skills, integrity, and a collaborative approach to leadership are essential. Experience with major energy transition topics and a background in working with or within government bodies and regulatory agencies are also highly valued.
