Start date is typically 3-4 weeks out based on compliance requirements. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3.5. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. The position requires certifications in ACLS and BLS. The nurse will float within scope to meet facility needs between the two spine units. Patients will primarily undergo elective spine surgery, with some traumatic spine cases. Responsibilities include caring for patients from cervical to sacral procedures. The nurse will manage lumbar drains and assist with mobility exercises three times a day. Pain management is an essential component of patient care. Other responsibilities include the use of special equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Interdisciplinary support includes teams for IV, physical therapy, respiratory services, and more. This position requires experience with telemetry monitoring, wound care, and managing IVs. The daily patient census is expected to be manageable within the staffing model. The facility is a short-term acute care environment and may include teaching opportunities. Nurses will be responsible for a diversity of tasks including pain management and post-operative care.
