Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Elective Spine Surgery experience Ability to handle some traumatic spine issues Description: The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients receiving elective spine surgeries and some traumatic spine issues. Duties include managing lumbar drains and pain management. The nurse will be required to mobilize patients three times per day. Nurses will be expected to provide pain management and utilize Hoyer lifts as needed. A maximum patient ratio of 1:3.5 is expected. All clinicians may float between designated units to meet facility needs. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. The facility is a teaching hospital with a Trauma Level I designation and 1273 staffed beds. Charting will be conducted using a designated electronic health record system. Interdisciplinary support includes teams from various services such as physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Additional skills required include access and management of ports, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient care and safety.
