Key Responsibilities of the Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) * Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments, including physical exams, patient histories, ECG interpretation, and preventive screenings. * Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical findings, evidence-based guidelines, and patient goals. * Prescribe medications and non-pharmacologic interventions as appropriate to scope and cardiology protocols. * Educate patients and families on chronic disease management, wellness, and safety planning. * Order and interpret diagnostic tests, lab work, and imaging; refer to specialists or community services as needed. * Perform minor procedures, including basic wound care, debridement, and suturing for superficial conditions. * Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and adjust care plans accordingly. * Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff in both clinic and outpatient procedural settings. Minimum Qualifications: * Licensed and Board-Certified (or Board-Eligible) Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, with eligibility for Oregon licensure. * Previous experience in cardiology is strongly preferred; however, motivated new graduates with strong clinical rotations will also be considered. * Skilled in ECG interpretation, risk factor management, and cardiovascular wellness counseling. * Comfortable with minor procedural skills (e.g., wound management and suturing). * Strong communication skills, commitment to team-based care, and an interest in rural medicine.
