On-Call Transportation Accessibility Specialist

Overview As an On‑Call Transportation Accessibility Specialist, you will help ensure individuals with disabilities and older adults receive fair, accurate, and timely ADA paratransit eligibility determinations, while also supporting independence and appropriate use of fixed‑route public transportation whenever possible. The role is designed to attract professionals from clinical disciplines and social‑services or human‑services backgrounds, and your work will directly shape equitable mobility outcomes. Who This Role Is For Clinical or Rehabilitation Professional (OT, PT, COTA, rehab, healthcare‑adjacent) who values objective functional assessment, defensible decision‑making, and the application of clinical judgment outside traditional care settings. Social Services or Human Services Professional (social services, disability services, case management, advocacy) who thrives in people‑centered, equity‑driven work, brings strong interviewing, listening, and observational skills, and is comfortable working within structured eligibility and regulatory frameworks. Responsibilities Assess & determine transportation access by conducting in‑person interviews and functional assessments. Review ADA paratransit applications, intake forms, and professional verification materials. Determine required functional assessments, evaluate results, and make final eligibility determinations in compliance with ADA regulations and contract standards. Assess applicants’ ability to independently use fixed‑route public transportation. Document, communicate, and defend eligibility decisions; maintain complete documentation and support appeals. Enter and manage applicant data in client systems (including Trapeze). Participate in appeals processes and articulate decision rationale. Collaborate with MTM leadership and client teams to identify process improvement opportunities. Support community outreach and education initiatives as needed. Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times. Build rapport with applicants, caregivers, and support staff; communicate respectfully, clearly, and compassionately with diverse populations. Qualifications Experience, Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Rehabilitation, Healthcare, or a related field. 3+ years of professional experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or older adults. Experience with functional assessment of individuals with disabilities and documenting decisions within regulated or compliance‑driven programs. Experience with ADA programs, eligibility determination, or public benefits. OT, PT, or COTA certification or licensure preferred; 5+ years of post‑licensure clinical experience preferred. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Continuously valid U.S. driver’s license preferred. Skills: Strong interviewing, assessment, and observational skills. Knowledge of or ability to develop expertise in ADA complementary paratransit eligibility regulations. Ability to administer standardized evaluation tools consistently and accurately. Clear written communication for reports and eligibility determination letters. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong organizational and multi‑tasking abilities. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. High standards for confidentiality and data integrity. Additional language skills are a plus. Salary Minimum: $26/hr – Maximum: $31/hr. Base salary pay range is based on current national market data; ranges may vary by location. Compensation reflects individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
