Step into a dynamic role supporting K-12 students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a welcoming educational environment near Westland, MI. This full-time contract opportunity spans from August through December, with the potential to continue into the spring semester. You’ll work with students across elementary through high school levels, making a positive difference in their educational experience and growth.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid COTA certification and active state licensure
- Previous experience in school-based occupational therapy (preferred)
- Strong understanding of IEPs, progress monitoring, and documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with OTs, teachers, and support staff
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Comfortable supporting a diverse student population, adapting strategies as needed
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OT
- Support classroom staff in implementing accommodations and modifications
- Assist with sensory and motor skill interventions tailored to individual student needs
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining accurate records
- Communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and families regarding student goals
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning sessions, and professional development as scheduled
