New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.Successfully complete a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.Hours of Work:Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM; Wednesday: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM**Occasionally, you may be required to work on a holiday if it falls on your regular workday.Compensation & Information on BenefitsThe anticipated hiring range for the Custodian position is $21.94 (first step) to $23.04 or $24.19 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.Included Benefits:Paid sick leave - one (1) hour accrued for every 30 hours worked.Access to the City's fully equipped fitness center 24/7Examples of Job DutiesEssential Functions of the Position:Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects restrooms, break rooms and all public spaces.Stock custodial closets with appropriate supplies.Sweeps, vacuums, and mops (wet and dry) a variety of flooring materialsDusts furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.Washes windows, mirrors and walls, tables, and chairs.Empties and disposes of collected waste, recycled goods and other materials.Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.May be required to travel between different work locations based on operational need.The scope of the assigned area will depend on departmental structure and is determined at the discretion of the department director or designee.Other Functions of the Position:Performs a variety of minor routine building maintenance tasks; identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.Keep all equipment and tools in good operational condition.Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall function of the department and organizational goals.Demonstrates regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.Handles job stress and interacts effectively with others in the workplace.Fosters an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.Is an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.Competencies:High Standards - Effective performers establish and model standards that guarantee exceptional quality and necessary attention to detail.
