Maintenance Supervisor
Serves as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Facilities Maintenance Section at Riverside National Cemetery. Directs the day-to-day maintenance and repair functions for the buildings and grounds of RNC. Activities of this section include maintenance and repair of buildings, fences, roads, sidewalks, parking lots, equipment, vehicles, and plumbing. The incumbent exercises full supervisory responsibility over assigned Wage Grade (WG) employees, a Wage Grade Leader (WL), and a Program Support Assistant (GS). Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and reviewing work; establishing performance standards; evaluating employee performance; approving leave; identifying training needs; and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions when necessary. The Maintenance Supervisor develops and implements long- and short-range work plans, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, seasonal, and annual schedules. Work assignments are structured to align with priorities established by higher management while ensuring efficient sequencing, appropriate allocation of personnel, and availability of materials and equipment. Adjustments are made as operational needs change to maintain continuity of services.
Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work. Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not Available.
