At I Sodi, we are seeking experienced backwaiters who are passionate about serving fine Italian food in an intimate setting, for evening and weekends shifts to join our passionate hospitality team. About Us I Sodi is the long-celebrated ristorante Toscano established in 2008 by Chef Rita Sodi. I Sodi draws inspiration from the small family farm where Sodi grew up, just north of Florence. Almost everything the family ate came from the farm – prosciutto, salami, vegetables, olive oil – and the preparation and enjoyment of meals was a sacred ritual. This history forms the guiding ethos of I Sodi, where the preservation of tradition, time-honored methods, and the integrity of ingredients matter above all.

About the Role

Back waiters are essential, customer-facing members of our team and the front line of our dining room experience. We are looking for individuals who communicate clearly, move with urgency and precision, and take genuine pride in maintaining the standards of a respected New York City restaurant. What Makes a Strong Candidate

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a runner, back waiter, or busser in a similar caliber NYC restaurant
• Stable work history, consistent employment of 6+ months per role
• Polished, professional presentation and strong personal hygiene
• Clear and effective communicator with both guests and the team
• Experience at a well-regarded restaurant in NYC or another major city is a strong plus
• Demonstrated reliability: punctual, consistent, and team-oriented

Responsibilities

• Run dishes from the kitchen to correct tables quickly and accurately
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room and back station throughout service
• Communicate proactively with servers, kitchen staff, and management
• Complete all assigned side work before, during, and after service
• Keep the back station Department of Health-compliant at all times
• Ensure to-go packaging and supplies are stocked for service
• Support the floor team to deliver a seamless and elevated dining experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs
• Ability to walk, stand, and bend continuously for extended periods

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $17.00
