Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Edison Smart are partnered with a growing AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) consulting firm looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our clients growing team in Dallas. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ead the design and delivery of mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of projects across the commercial, healthcare and government verticals & be responsible for leading the design, coordination, and execution of HVAC and mechanical building systems from concept through construction. This role requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, client interaction, and the ability to mentor junior engineers and designers. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical design for commercial, institutional, healthcare, educational, industrial, and mixed-use projects. Design HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, ventilation, smoke control, and energy-efficient solutions. Prepare engineering calculations including heating/cooling loads, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork, and piping layouts. Develop construction documents, specifications, and technical reports. Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines. Review drawings, calculations, and specifications prepared by junior staff. Attend client meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination meetings. Perform construction administration including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site observations. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and local regulations. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across the mechanical team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design within an AEC consulting environment. Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, chilled water, heating systems, and ventilation design. Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD. Experience with HVAC load calculation and energy modeling software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus, HAP, or IES VE is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience with healthcare, laboratory, mission-critical, or higher education facilities. LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), WELL AP, or other sustainability credentials. Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams. #J-18808-Ljbffr Edison Smart®
