Registered Nurse - MS Stroke Stepdown

Schedule

Night shift, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Job Description

This position involves caring for patients in the MS Stroke Stepdown unit. The common diagnoses include stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation cases, general medical-surgical conditions, pneumonia, and pulmonary issues. The unit has a total of 64 beds and primarily cares for adult patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients recovering from strokes and other related conditions.
• Utilize specialty equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and manage treatment plans.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 2 years of nursing experience with stroke stepdown specialization.
• Current AHA BLS certification and NIHSS certification (can be obtained prior to start).
• Active NY RN license and all active RN licenses verified through NURSYS.
• Travel experience is mandatory.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred.
