Plastics Operations Shift Leader

Shift Leader – Plastics Operations At ProMach, we’re looking for people who want to shine and drive the future of packaging automation. In this role, you will plan, create, direct, set‑up, and run sheet extrusion equipment while leading a team of operators to produce and inspect plastic fixtures to specifications. Responsibilities Lead, direct, coordinate, and participate in all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity, minimize cost, and maintain quality while observing all company safety protocols and PPE requirements. Lead a team of 4 to 9 Extrusion Techs and Plastics Operators. Foster a clean and safe work environment through problem‑solving, employee training, advanced planning, and assigning and directing work. Ensure timely startups and shutdowns to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessary downtime; pack finished product into corrugate containers from time to time. Instruct and train team members with the Process Technician to become qualified set‑up technicians following the SOPs defined by the company. Change extrusion die on the extrusion machine following the SOPs defined by the company, ensuring the correct size die is utilized for the current product scheduled. Set‑up and operate the extruder with the appropriate settings for regrind, color, and virgin material, making all necessary adjustments to produce quality components. Detect and diagnose surface defects of product, die lines, blemishes, color variations, etc. Set‑up punching and extrusion dies, troubleshoot, and perform basic machine maintenance. Monitor and inspect quality of finished goods, signing off on the first article at the beginning of the shift or beginning of a new run after a changeover. Shift Availability 2nd Shift Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. What’s in it for you? Qualifications Associate’s degree in Engineering or related field, or relevant industry experience. 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; 3+ years hands‑on experience using thermoplastic extrusion and converting equipment. Working knowledge of tools, instruments, standard test equipment, and plant processes. Ability to document all processes related to the molding of a repeatable and understandable part. Ability to sample new tools and communicate with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to assure objectives are achieved. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels. Self‑starter with a strong sense of urgency, able to work well under pressure.
