Fatty Acids Area SupervisorPosition Summary

The Fatty Acids Area Supervisor is responsible for leading shift operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the Fatty Acids production areas. This role provides leadership to production and maintenance personnel during non-daylight and weekend shifts while supporting production goals, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture by ensuring safe work practices and compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Maintain environmental compliance during non-daylight and weekend operations, including:

  • Monitoring and ensuring proper operation of department odor control systems.

  • Monitoring Mill Creek and coordinating spill response activities.

  • Maintaining positive control of Mill Creek stormwater discharges.

  • Investigating, tracking, and resolving Fatty Acids odor complaints.

• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to shift production personnel to achieve daily production schedules and process performance metrics.

• Coordinate and direct maintenance activities during assigned shifts by working closely with maintenance trades.

• Ensure maintenance issues are properly identified and entered into SAP to support effective planning and scheduling.

• Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the production areas.

• Serve as an active member of the site's Emergency Response Team (ERT).

• Communicate shift priorities, operational concerns, and production status to leadership during shift transitions.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical or related field preferred.

• Minimum of 2–5 years of leadership experience , preferably in a chemical manufacturing or continuous process environment.

• Working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and process operations.

• Experience leading production personnel in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Experience with SAP or a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) preferred.

• Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and changing production priorities.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

• Ability to work more than 40 hours per week based on business needs.

• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment, including climbing stairs, walking production areas, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Must be able to successfully complete required safety and emergency response training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or process manufacturing facility.

• Knowledge of environmental regulations and spill response procedures.

• Experience with process improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing principles.

• Emergency Response Team (ERT) experience is a plus.
