THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING A growing finance function within an insurance and retirement solutions organization, based in a newly expanded Charlotte office A team working across reinsurance, life insurance, and annuities, offering broader exposure than a traditional public accounting seat A flatter, less siloed structure than larger public accounting environments, where accountants work across a wider range of areas instead of one narrow lane An organization actively building out its Charlotte presence and finance headcount as the office grows LOCATION Charlotte, NC What They Offer You Broader scope than a typical senior accountant role, hands-on across both GAAP and STAT rather than boxed into one workstream Direct exposure to insurance specific accounting (reinsurance, life, annuities), a specialized skill set that's hard to build outside the industry Visibility with finance leadership in a growing office, not buried in a large, established team Room to shape process and structure as the office continues to build out, rather than stepping into something already fully set A path to build a differentiated, harder to replicate skill set that carries real long term career value WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT This role puts you at the center of the organization's insurance accounting function, with hands on exposure to reinsurance, life, and annuities work that most senior accountants don't see until much later in their careers The broader, less siloed scope builds a more versatile accountant than a narrow, single lane public accounting role would GAAP/STAT plus reinsurance and annuities experience is a differentiated, marketable skill set for the long run Joining during a period of active office growth means more visibility and influence over how the function takes shape, rather than joining an already set team structure This is a chance to build a specialized niche in insurance accounting early, positioning you for more senior roles in the space down the line THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS Public accounting or corporate accounting background, with Big 4, regional, or mid size firm experience all considered; no strict pedigree requirement Working knowledge of GAAP required; STAT experience is a plus but not a dealbreaker for the right candidate Comfortable operating in a flatter structure where one person may touch multiple areas of the close and reporting process, rather than staying in a single, narrowly defined lane Prior exposure to insurance, reinsurance, life insurance, or annuities accounting is a plus, but candidates without direct industry background will be considered if the technical foundation is strong Someone who wants broader exposure and more ownership earlier in their career, rather than staying in a narrow specialization within a large team Strong technical accounting fundamentals with the ability to pick up industry specific nuances (STAT reporting, insurance-specific reserves and adjustments) on the job Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA is a plus but not mandatory What You Will Do Handle core accounting responsibilities across GAAP and STAT reporting, including month-end close support, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables Take on a broader range of responsibilities than a typical senior accountant role, moving across functions rather than staying confined to one area of the close Support the accounting needs of an insurance-focused finance function covering reinsurance, life insurance, and annuities lines of business Build working knowledge of insurance-specific accounting concepts (STAT reporting, reserve accounting) alongside standard GAAP responsibilities Work closely with finance leadership in a growing office, with visibility into how decisions get made rather than being several layers removed Partner cross-functionally as the Charlotte office continues to build out, contributing to process and structure decisions rather than just executing an already established playbook #J-18808-Ljbffr AccruePartners
