The Marine Systems organization, part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, is searching for Mechanical Design Engineers in support of both the manufacturing and installation of Launcher Hardware.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop designs concept and generate solid models that reflect those conceptsCollaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirementsConduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirementsOversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practicesIdentify procurement needs and support fabricationProvide assembly checkout and test supportGenerate task plans and support proposal effortsOccasional domestic travel may be requiredDrive issue resolutions both onsite and with vendorsThe qualified candidate will possess the following skills:Good communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to work autonomously and in a team environmentMust be onsite 4 days a week, remote work is not an option for this role.This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:Basic Qualifications for Level 3:Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 3 years relevant work experience.Experience in machine design and drawing generationExperience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)Familiar with PLM systemsAbility to plan tasks and execute to the established scheduleUS citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret ClearanceBasic Qualifications for Level 4:Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 6 years relevant work experience; or PHD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 3 years relevant work experienceExperience in machine design and drawing generationExperience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established scheduleExperience leading a team.US citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret ClearancePreferred Qualifications:Experience in ASME Y14.5 GD&T Standard and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and Engineering Drawing PracticesExperience in production support such as troubleshooting, RCCA, and resolving production issuesExperience developing project plans and communicating plans across hybrid teams.Strong background in machine design, strength of materials, and materials technologyExperience in technical presentationExperience in developing continuous improvement initiativesExperience in working with vendors and suppliersExperience working in a low volume high precision manufacturing environmentSystem Engineering experienceAn active US Government Secret clearancePrimary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
