At RWJBarnabas Health, our Registered Nurses play an essential role in providing compassionate, specialized rehabilitation care to infants and toddlers with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitation needs. As a Registered Nurse in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Infant/Toddler Unit at Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, you'll combine clinical nursing expertise, critical thinking, and family-centered care to support each child's individualized rehabilitation journey. From developing and implementing nursing care plans to educating families and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, you'll help promote patient safety, developmental progress, independence, and quality of life. Typical Day Performing comprehensive nursing assessments to identify the medical, developmental, rehabilitation, and emotional needs of infants, toddlers, and their families Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized pediatric rehabilitation nursing care plans in accordance with established hospital and departmental standards Applying the nursing process to deliver safe, evidence-based care while monitoring patient progress and adjusting interventions as needed Providing compassionate, developmentally appropriate nursing care to infants and toddlers with complex healthcare and rehabilitation needs Educating parents and caregivers about individualized care plans, nursing interventions, rehabilitation goals, and ongoing healthcare needs Collaborating with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support patient progress Promoting continuity of care through effective communication, accurate documentation, and coordinated interdisciplinary interventions Delegating appropriate nursing responsibilities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistants based on patient needs, staff competencies, and established care goals Supporting and mentoring LPNs, nurse externs, nursing assistants, nursing students, and newly hired staff while serving as a positive clinical role model Recognizing and respecting patient and family rights while providing culturally sensitive, compassionate, and family-centered care Monitoring patient needs, identifying clinical concerns, and communicating changes or challenges to nursing leadership and appropriate healthcare professionals Assuming relief Charge Nurse responsibilities when needed, including supporting clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and coordination of nursing care This role might be for you if You are passionate about pediatric nursing and enjoy supporting infants and toddlers with complex medical, developmental, and rehabilitation needs You value building meaningful relationships with patients and families while providing compassionate, individualized care Strong nursing assessment and critical thinking skills allow you to recognize patient needs and develop appropriate clinical interventions You enjoy creating and implementing nursing care plans that support rehabilitation goals, developmental progress, and overall well-being You understand the importance of parent and caregiver education in supporting continuity of care and long-term healthcare needs You enjoy collaborating with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary professionals to coordinate patient care You are comfortable delegating appropriate responsibilities to LPNs and nursing assistants while maintaining accountability for nursing care You bring patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to caring for young children with diverse physical, developmental, and emotional needs You enjoy mentoring colleagues, supporting new team members, and contributing to a positive learning environment You are organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple patient care priorities in a pediatric inpatient rehabilitation setting You demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respect for patient and family preferences You are interested in developing your leadership skills and contributing to nursing operations through relief Charge Nurse responsibilities when needed To be considered for this Inpatient Rehabilitation Registered Nurse opportunity, you should demonstrate strong nursing assessment, care planning, patient and family education, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
