Position: Outreach and Development Coordinator 

Purpose of Position: To help administrate and develop the Parish’s outreach initiatives, particularly the St. Margaret of Castello, OP Center for families. This will be accomplished by promoting and coordinating volunteer opportunities at St. Dominic Parish within the parish (internal communication) and within the Archdiocese of Denver (external communication) as well as developing tools and systems to foster parishioner engagement and grow donor giving. Both internal and external communication will utilize telephone, email, Flocknote, parish website, and social media (principally Facebook and YouTube). 

Position Responsibilities: 

I. General Responsibilities 

a. Be a full-time member of the Parish Staff and function as a member of our leadership team. 

i. Attend weekly staff meetings 

ii. Advise and counsel the Pastor in the administration and direction of the parish 

b. Coordinate and oversee the administration of our outreach ministry: St. Margaret of Castello, OP Center for Families (SMCCF) 

c. Co-chair the Parish Outreach Committee and act as a staff liaison to the committee. 

d. Solicit and coordinate parish volunteers to engage in parish ministries and activities, especially with our efforts to serve the poor and vulnerable 

e. Lead fundraising and development efforts for the SMCCF, with a view toward developing the parish’s fundraising efforts. 

II. Outreach Coordinator 

a. Oversee and coordinate the parish’s outreach efforts to the community 

i. Co-chair the Parish Outreach Committee and act as a staff liaison to the committee. 

b. Collaborate with lay leadership in establishing priorities for St. Dominic’s engagement with the poor and vulnerable, locally, nationally, and internationally 

c. Develop and execute a communications infrastructure that: 

1. Engages and encourages parishioners to give of their time and talent to outreach efforts 

2. Communicates to the parish regularly regarding the successes, needs and challenges, and plans of our outreach efforts. 

d. Oversee the execution of the parish’s outreach efforts: 

1. Solicit and supervise volunteers 

2. Communicate regularly to the parish regarding the successes, needs and challenges, and plans of our outreach efforts. 

e. Develop and plan programming that provides further Faith Formation on issues related to Catholic Social Teaching for both the parish and the Church in Denver. 

f. Administrate and oversee the St. Margaret of Castello, OP Center for Families 

i. Solicit and coordinate volunteer and staffing needs for the proper functioning of the center’s efforts. 

ii. Manage the work and scheduling of one part-time paid assistant 

iii. Coordinate and collaborate with a leadership team for the center. 

iv. Coordinate the ordering and pick-up of food from the Food Bank of the Rockies and other donor organizations 

v. Supervise and maintain records, reports, and compliance with the requirements of the Food Bank of the Rockies. 

vi. Write and maintain policies and procedure 

vii. Report to Business Manager regarding the financial status and needs of the center. 

viii. Track and update data to measure the Center’s impact, including impact from parishioners

ix. Plan and implement activities for the donations for the Mother-Baby Room and Food Room 

x. Work with Parish staff as needed to maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning operating space for the Center 

III. Development Coordinator 

a. Develop the SMCCF’s visibility and community collaboration by: 

i. Growing the center’s volunteer base

ii. Engaging with other parishes (especially those in our deanery) and religious or non-profit organizations to participate in the Center’s mission (i.e., establish donation bins at each parish, encourage bulletin/media posts about our needs and how to help, volunteer, etc.) 

iii. Increase outreach to area businesses about possible donations to help the St. Margaret of Castello Family Center. 

b. Work with the Pastor to develop and execute a multi-year sustainable fundraising campaign strategy and tactics to ensure the SMCCF’s operations and staff salaries are fully funded 

i. Develop and update campaign plans 

ii. Communicate goals and opportunities of participation to parishioners 

iii. Develop donor and grant target list and pursue related funding opportunities 

iv. Design and implement donor communication and recognition strategies 

v. Complete grant reporting on a timely basis 

c. Work with Pastor to enhance the Parish’s own fundraising and development efforts.

d. Migrate, integrate, and develop all ministry engagement, especially volunteer coordination, to Flocknote 

i. Work with the Assistant Operations Manager to grow parishioner registration and comfort with Flocknote (i.e., through visual materials, person-to-person engagement after masses, video instruction 

ii. Assist the Manager of Operations in managing and supervising volunteer database and compliance with the archdiocese 

iii. Manage the parish’s compliance requirements for Safe Environment Training according to the regulations of the Archdiocese of Denver 

iv. Supervise the parish’s compliance with other volunteer paperwork (i.e., signed Hold-Harmless forms, conflict of interest forms, etc.) 

v. Create and maintain a database of volunteers, recording information determined by the Pastor. 

e. Collaborate and communicate closely with the Pastoral Council and the Parish Life Committee for the needs of communicating and engaging parishioner participation in all parish activities. 

IV. Other duties as assigned. 

V. Knowledge, experience, and skill: 

a. Must demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and oral. 

b. Must demonstrate strong organization and team management skills. 

c. Must demonstrate high competency and facilities with computers, internet applications, and social media. This includes being able to learn and competently use applications they may not be familiar with, especially Flocknote. 

d. Must be able to independently work within a Microsoft 365 environment. 

e. Must have strong relational and pastoral skills to effectively engage the poor and vulnerable, those who have suffered trauma or ongoing mental illness, and a variety of ideologies, cultures, creeds, and lifestyles. 

f. Must possess high personal standards and moral conduct to demonstrate and communicate the Catholic faith in a variety of situations, as well as to comply and agree with the Archdiocese’s Code of Conduct. 

g. Must be fluent in English and have a high facility with Spanish (Bilingual is preferred) 

h. Experience in fundraising and development is preferred, though not required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Position includes, but is not limited to walking, stairs, loading/unloading, and stocking of shelves.
