Job Summary: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Anchorage, AK
A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide stepdown-level care for a wide variety of adult and geriatric patients, including cardiac and respiratory populations. The role supports patient management in a Stepdown unit from ICU with a co-care/virtual nursing model, where each patient is supported by one bedside RN, one Virtual RN, and one CNA. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 3x12 night shifts; minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); RN license eligibility/availability as required (a valid Alaska RN license is required for Auto Offer; pending license accepted with license in hand for Auto Offer); Epic charting experience; must be able to complete the Alaska RN license application within 48 hours of signing (including submitting fingerprints, application fee, and application submission); 1 year of experience is listed as required; first-time RN candidates accepted

• Additional Information:
  • Stepdown unit from ICU with a wide variety of patient populations serving multiple disciplines; co-care/virtual nursing model utilized (bedside RN, Virtual RN, and CNA per patient)
  • Weekend coverage is required and may be more frequent than every other weekend based on staffing needs
  • Float within scope may be required to meet facility needs (lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and MS)
  • Patient populations include approximately 30% cardiac (e.g., CHF, MI, post TAVR/MVR, pacemaker patients, cardiac arrhythmia, drug load, Angiovac, ACS) and respiratory conditions (e.g., COVID/flu/COPD/asthma exacerbations, trach patients >24 hours since placement, chronic home ventilators), with ability to manage high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP
  • Complicated medical-surgical monitoring needs may include conditions such as ETOH withdrawal and GI bleed
  • Holidays: willingness to work 2 out of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year) is required
  • Providers will float within the hospital; assignment may include coverage for patient needs as required by the facility
