Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Dietary Cook to join our assisted living team. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents’ dietary needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus and dietary requirements
Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Follow special diet orders (mechanical soft, diabetic-friendly, low sodium, etc.)
Maintain portion control and proper food presentation
Assist with food prep, cooking, and serving during meal times
Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper storage of all food items
Keep kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
Collaborate with nursing staff and administration regarding resident dietary needs
Assist with inventory, food ordering, and minimizing waste
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous cooking experience required (healthcare, assisted living, or restaurant preferred)
Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation standards
Food Handler’s Permit or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to follow recipes and dietary modifications
Strong time management and organizational skills
Passion for working with seniors
