Assistant Controller

SaaS Industry Experience | CPA Required | PE Backed Company Experience Our client, a high-growth, private equity-backed SaaS organization , is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their expanding finance team. This is a newly created, high-impact role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function while helping build scalable processes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position will partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams, supporting both day-to-day accounting operations and strategic initiatives tied to growth, automation, and system improvements. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in accordance with U.S. GAAP Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial results Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules Analyze financial results, identifying variances and partnering with leadership on follow-up Accounting Operations Oversee core accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, invoicing, and cash management Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external reporting requirements Manage multi-entity and/or multi-state accounting environments Leadership & Team Development Supervise and develop a small team, including reviewing work and driving accountability Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining ownership of final outputs Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment Process Improvement & Systems Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency across accounting operations Support automation and transformation initiatives, including system enhancements and implementations Build and document scalable accounting processes, policies, and internal controls Cross-Functional & Strategic Support Partner with finance and operational leaders to support business initiatives and reporting needs Assist with audit, lender, and investor-related deliverables Serve as a key liaison to external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party partners Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as the organization continues to scale Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a blend of public accounting and industry experience Experience within a private equity-backed SaaS organization required Strong background in month-end close, financial statement preparation, and multi-entity environments Prior leadership or supervisory experience required Experience working in high-growth or scaling organizations preferred Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (ERP experience a plus) Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting High attention to detail with strong analytical skills Ability to operate independently with a high level of ownership Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally Process-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and automation Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
