Step into a meaningful role as a Special Education Teacher Consultant in a vibrant Michigan school community. This full-time contract position runs through June 2027 and offers the chance to make a lasting difference for students and educators near Ypsilanti. Your expertise will help shape inclusive learning environments while you engage with multidisciplinary teams eager for your guidance.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Current Michigan Teaching Certificate with SM, SE, SA, or SV endorsement
- Master’s degree and Teacher Consultant Approval, or minimum three years’ successful Special Education teaching experience in Michigan
- In-depth understanding of IDEA, MARSE, and the full IEP process
- Proficiency navigating IEPs, 504s, METs, evaluations, MTSS, and progress monitoring
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers, administrators, families, and related services teams
- A proven track record supporting student interventions, behavioral planning, and Special Education compliance
Your day-to-day impact:
- Support and manage IEPs, 504 plans, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Collaborate to develop, implement, and monitor effective interventions for students with learning disabilities
- Consult with general and special education staff on best practices for student achievement
- Participate in assessments, evaluations, and eligibility processes as part of multidisciplinary evaluation teams (METs)
- Advise on compliance and model strategies that uphold federal and state regulations
- Foster positive family engagement and strong school partnerships
- Offer insight and solutions for behavior support and individualized educational planning
