About This Role
We're seeking a caring and reliable Long-Term Substitute Afternoon Assistant Teacher to join our Primary classroom team, working with children aged 3–6.
The position requires a commitment of approximately 8 months, from July 27th to November 20th, with a schedule of Monday 2:30-5:30PM and Tuesday through Friday 11:30AM-5:30PM.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience working with young children to gain hands-on experience in a Montessori environment.
We also offer the potential for continued employment as a substitute after the assignment ends.
What You'll Do- Support the Lead Teacher in managing the daily routine for the children, ensuring a smooth transition from one activity to the next.
- Supervise and engage with the children during both indoor and outdoor activities, promoting their physical and emotional development.
- Contribute to maintaining a calm, clean, and inviting classroom environment that fosters a sense of community and respect among students, families, and staff.
- Empower children to take ownership of their learning journey by supporting their independence and exploration in a respectful manner.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff, ensuring a strong and supportive community.
- Ability to pass required state background checks
- Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire
- High school diploma
- If you continue with us as a substitute during the school year, CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided)
- Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.)
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with a strong foundation in child development and education principles.
- Familiarity with or a genuine interest in Montessori education principles, which emphasize hands-on learning and child-centered activities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- A positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong work ethic, with a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
