The Medical Assistant II supports the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistant IIs must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by the US Department of Education
• Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) National Health Career Association (NHA) National Healthcare Workers Association (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA)
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

• Room patients obtain vital signs and update medical information.
• Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory testing using infection control standards.
• Assist providers with exams procedures and minor surgeries.
• Administer medications immunizations injections and IV therapy as permitted.
• Educate patients and coordinate follow-up care referrals appointments and prescription refills.
• Document patient information and communicate effectively with providers and care team members.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures such as EKGs phlebotomy spirometry wound care catheterization and suture/staple removal as trained and supervised.
• Prepare clean stock and maintain exam rooms equipment and supplies.
• Perform equipment maintenance sterilization and quality checks.
• Support quality improvement patient-centered care and care management initiatives.
• Deliver age-appropriate care while assessing and addressing the unique needs of patients across the lifespan.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships with a variety of patients team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding navigation within a windows operating system and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.
