CUSTODIAN 2ND SHIFT

We are currently accepting applications for custodians in the district. If interested please complete and submit an application. Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. Be able to read, write, and understand instructions written in English in order to effectively carry out responsibilities. Have experience as a custodian and possess a good working knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and procedures Experience in minor repairs and maintenance tasks is desired Ability to work a full eight (8) hour work period without excessive fatigue Must be able to furnish references on ability, character and morals Ability to maintain effective working relationships with administrators, district staff, teachers, students and general public, dealing with all individuals with courtesy, tact, good judgment and good customer service skills Dependable, reliable, prompt, well groomed and flexible

Length of Assignment: Twelve (12) Months (260 days)

Reports to: Head Custodian/Building Principal

Evaluation: Annually by the Building Principal/Head Custodian

Responsibilities:

• Observe safety procedures in carrying out assigned tasks
• Responsibility for the cleanliness of assigned area of building and grounds
• Perform all duties assigned in accordance with the procedure established in the Custodial Handbook
• Keep supervisor informed of custodial supply needs and equipment repair needs for building operations
• Set-up gyms, multi-purpose room, cafeterias, etc., as needed for activities during and after school
• Clean entrance halls/lobbies and door glass on daily basis
• Empty wastebaskets, refill dispensers, clean and sanitize restrooms daily
• Dust mop floors and clean baseboards and corners daily
• Clean drinking fountains, chalkboards, rails and erasers daily
• Damp mop spillage and spots on floor tile; vacuum carpets and remove spots on a daily basis.
• Dust horizontal ledges and sills daily
• Clean fingerprints, stains, etc., from doors, walls and lockers on a daily basis
• Annually refinish all floors in building
• Other duties as assigned by building Principal or Head Custodian and Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds

• Lifting Up to 50 lbs
• Push/pull Up to 50 lbs
• Dust mopping daily
• Wet mopping daily
• Stair climbing daily
• Ladder climbing frequently
• Bending daily

Additional Infrequent Responsibilities/Duties:

Have knowledge necessary to cope with any emergencies that may arise; in case of damage, make minor repairs until the maintenance department can make the necessary repairs Note the location of all fire extinguishers, emergency cut-off valves, reset buttons, switches and breakers for all utilities, furnaces, circulating pumps, etc.

Maintain a current emergency telephone number listing of fire department, police department, utility companies and maintenance personnel to contact when necessary

Extreme Weather Day Critical Position:

• This positions is classified as an Extreme Weather Day Critical Position. This position would be expected to report on days when the district is closed and 12 month staff have been instructed to not report.

All employees are responsible for the security of buildings and school property. It is the responsibility of each employee to secure all doors and windows in their assigned area. It is the responsibility of the last custodial employee to leave the building to assure that all doors, windows, etc., are secure.
