Transportation Logistics Manager
Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field. 5–7 years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or related operations experience. Prior management experience leading transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain teams. Demonstrated experience managing carriers, freight brokers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers. Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation operations, including LTL, FTL, parcel, ocean, air, and other applicable transportation modes. Experience with transportation lane management, carrier network optimization, routing, and shipment planning. Experience managing freight spend, transportation budgets, rate negotiations, and carrier performance. Demonstrated experience establishing transportation targets, KPIs, reporting requirements, and operational performance standards. Experience implementing or managing transportation systems, reporting tools, and data requirements. Working knowledge of transportation regulations, import/export requirements, customs processes, and international trade compliance. Experience managing freight claims, shipment exceptions, and transportation-related service issues. Experience using ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, as well as transportation management, freight management, and reporting systems. Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, and operational decision-making skills. Ability to use transportation data and KPIs to identify trends, evaluate performance, establish targets, and drive informed business decisions. Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement, change management, and operational optimization initiatives. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment. Strong leadership, communication, vendor management, cross-functional collaboration, and team development skills. Commitment to operational discipline, accountability, cost management, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Job Description The Transportation Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the company's transportation operations to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and scalable movement of goods across domestic and international supply chains.
This role serves as the primary operational leader for transportation planning, lane management, carrier and freight vendor management, freight spend, shipment execution, delivery performance, transportation systems and reporting, claims management, transportation compliance, and continuous improvement. The Transportation Logistics Manager establishes transportation targets and performance standards, develops systems and reporting requirements, evaluates service and cost opportunities, negotiates and re-negotiates transportation rates, and ensures transportation issues are proactively addressed to minimize disruption to business operations. Reporting to the Director of Logistics & Inventory Systems, the Transportation Logistics Manager translates broader logistics strategy into effective transportation programs and operational practices. The role requires strong leadership presence, independent operational judgment, analytical capability, vendor management expertise, and the ability to build accountability and high performance across transportation and logistics functions.
