Assistant Safety Manager

ROLE: Responsible for assisting the Plant Safety Manager in all safety, health, and fire safety activities and programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1/3 of daily job duties will be production floor visibility, engagement, auditing and coaching 2/3 of daily job duties will be divided into the following assignments: Assist with accident investigation Management of the company’s safety inquiries (i.e. near miss, safety suggestions) Respond to safety inquiries on all levels regarding safety concerns Assist the safety manager in ISO 45001 development and implementation & with initiatives and goals Apply safety programs and policies to meet company goals Perform OSHA compliance audits & WF policy audits Lead Behavior Based Safety initiatives at the facility Administrative work (i.e. filing papers, AS400 data entry, etc.) PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in safety and/or actively pursuing a safety degree | 3-year maximum timeline Completion of OSHA 10-hour session & knowledge of OSHA regulations Product Knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Point) Knowledge of ISO 45001 management system documentation/system Applied knowledge of safety policies and procedures Experience with working with all levels of organization Knowledge and ability to audit safety systems and plant facilities QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for safety risk Self-motivated and organized, able to prioritize workload Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, and judgmental skills Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills & presentation skills including development of materials Strong desire to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Annual Travel Requirements: Assist peer review team at any facility, attend one professional development opportunity per year & assist other facilities as needed This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA.
