Job Description
The Inventory Specialist maintains a high level of inventory accuracy and integrity within a manufacturing facility by executing a structured cycle count program, performing physical counts, reconciling records, and driving continuous process improvements. This role combines hands-on warehouse activities with data entry and system-based inventory control to ensure products and components are correctly identified, located, and recorded.
Responsibilities

• Perform all steps required to execute a comprehensive cycle count program for products and components.
• Physically count inventory items and compare quantities against inventory records to verify accuracy.
• Conduct regular product and component cycle counts to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Assist with monitoring and controlling inventory integrity throughout the facility.
• Support product and component identification and location programs to ensure items are clearly labeled and easy to find.
• Research inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Process inventory adjustments in the system based on verified count results and discrepancy investigations.
• Analyze variances between physical counts and system records and propose process improvements to reduce errors.
• Prepare and maintain inventory reports to communicate results of cycle counts, adjustments, and variances.
• Use data entry and computer-oriented inventory control or business systems, including MRP, to update and maintain accurate records.
• Operate RF scanners to track, verify, and record inventory movements within the facility.
• Assist with packing, shipping, receiving, and packaging activities as needed to support overall inventory control.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments in the facility to resolve issues and support smooth material flow.
• Follow established inventory control procedures and contribute suggestions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Use forklift equipment, where qualified and required, to move and organize inventory safely.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of inventory control experience preferred, with exposure to warehouse or manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with inventory control, including cycle counts and inventory management practices.
• Experience with computer-oriented inventory control or business systems, including MRP.
• Proficiency with standard office computer applications for data entry, reporting, and communication.
• Ability to perform accurate physical counts and reconcile them with system records.
• Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and verification.
• Knowledge of packing, shipping, receiving, and packaging processes related to inventory control.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate across facility departments.
• Ability to analyze discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience preferred, with the ability to move and organize inventory safely.
• Experience in warehouse inventory management or supply chain operations.
• Comfort working with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems, where applicable.
• Strong general computer skills, including use of inventory software, spreadsheets, and email.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as counting, reporting, and problem resolution.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility that is climate controlled, clean, and organized, providing a comfortable and orderly work setting. The position operates on a Monday through Thursday schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. Work involves regular movement within the warehouse or production areas, use of RF scanners and computer systems, and potential operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment in a structured, safety-focused environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
