Job Title: CT Tech Profession: CT Technologist Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology, Less than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: ARRT Radiography Certifications: ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support Must-Have: - Must exhibit excellent communication skills. - Must possess the ability to function independently and under pressure while actively participating in a team environment. - Must have excellent customer service skills. - Must be detail-oriented and capable of multitasking throughout the work shift. - Must possess the ability to interact professionally with a variety of customers, including patients, families, and co-workers. - Must be compliant with all policies and established procedures. - Competent in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection. - Understanding of anatomy and pathology regarding procedure quality. Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists in providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies properly and safely. Responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures. Demonstrates the ability to adjust techniques to ensure the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports problems with malfunctioning equipment to supervisors for timely correction. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department cleaning schedules. Verifies proper clinician orders for procedures. Obtains complete clinical histories, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for administering contrast media to ensure patient safety. Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and appropriate markers are utilized. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and assists with the restocking of emergency equipment. Observes patient conditions and evaluates when physician intervention is needed. Verifies the correct identity of patients using two unique identifiers before performing procedures. Maintains patient privacy and comfort, ensuring dignity throughout exams. Demonstrates competence based on patients' age in determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques. Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to complete activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions while assisting with procedures and exams. Engages patients and families, patiently explaining the purpose and nature of exams to minimize anxiety. Addresses patient's questions, concerns, and contraindications before proceeding. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental staff. Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Reads emails daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory education without prompting. Consistently produces acceptable images, as evidenced by feedback and quality audits. Ensures equipment is operational prior to use by checking for calibration and deficiencies. Sends all studies to the designated storage systems immediately after completion. Completes all studies in the required systems before finalization. Maintains department cleanliness, restocks supplies, and assists with patient transportation. Performs patient charging activities on the service day. Applies shielding and supportive devices as necessary. Willingly assists others upon request without prompting for departmental advantage. Performs duties of clerical and support personnel when warranted for continuity of services. Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and potential issues. Maintains an individual productivity rate comparable to peers. Operates all workstations associated with the department. Maintains compliance with regulatory agency standards. Performs additional duties as assigned.
