Reports to: Manager of Neighborhood Sustainability
Status: Full-Time, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Position Summary

 
The Healthy Homes Coordinator-DPH Lead supports the implementation and day-to-day coordination of Revitalize CDC’s Massachusetts Department of Public Health Lead Grant. As a member of the Neighborhood Sustainability Department, this position helps households navigate the lead-hazard identification and remediation process while coordinating communication among property owners, residents, inspectors, contractors, program partners, and funding agencies. The Coordinator will develop a strong working knowledge of lead-hazard regulations, program requirements, and remediation practices. This person will serve as a primary point of contact for participating households and help move projects efficiently from initial inquiry through inspection, remediation, clearance, and closeout. Although this position will work primarily within the DPH Lead Grant, the Coordinator may support other closely related lead-hazard reduction and Neighborhood Sustainability initiatives as departmental needs arise. This role necessitates occasional availability during evenings or weekends to support community events, program deadlines, and other time-critical tasks. Such assignments are considered irregular and remain outside the standard weekly schedule.

Essential Responsibilities

 
Program Coordination and Client Support 

• Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the DPH Lead Grant in accordance with program requirements, organizational policies, and applicable state regulations. 
• Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners, tenants, and landlords participating in the program.
• Conduct outreach, explain program requirements, and help applicants understand each stage of the lead-hazard reduction process. 
• Assist households with completing applications and collecting required eligibility, ownership, income, and property documentation. 
• Maintain consistent communication with participating households and provide timely updates regarding inspections, project status, required documentation, and next steps. 
• Identify barriers affecting participation or project progress and work with the Neighborhood Sustainability team to develop appropriate solutions. 
• Provide respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive service to households throughout the process. 

Project and Contractor Coordination 

• Coordinate property inspections, risk assessments, work specifications, contractor walkthroughs, remediation activities, clearance inspections, and project closeout. 
• Communicate with lead inspectors, risk assessors, contractors, property owners, residents, and program partners to keep projects moving forward. 
• Help prepare project files and documentation for bidding, contractor selection, and construction. 
• Monitor project timelines, follow up on outstanding action items, and promptly elevate delays or concerns to the Manager of Neighborhood Sustainability. 
• Assist with coordinating temporary relocation needs when required during lead-hazard remediation. 
• Conduct property visits during various stages of the project to support coordination, documentation, and communication. 
• Help ensure contractors submit required licenses, insurance, permits, invoices, certifications, and other compliance documentation. 
• Support the identification and development of qualified lead-remediation contractors, particularly within Western Massachusetts. 
• Maintain professional boundaries and communicate clearly with residents and contractors regarding program scope, eligibility, and available funding. 

Compliance, Documentation, and Reporting 

• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic and physical project files. 
• Enter client, property, project, and outcome information into the organization’s data-management systems. 
• Track each project from intake through inspection, remediation, clearance, and final closeout. 
• Ensure required forms, approvals, photographs, inspection reports, invoices, clearance documentation, and household information are collected and properly maintained. 
• Review files regularly to identify missing documentation or outstanding requirements. 
• Assist with preparing program reports, reimbursement documentation, outcome data, and grant deliverables. 
• Support monitoring visits, file reviews, audits, and other compliance activities. 
• Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client and household information. 
• Stay current on relevant Massachusetts lead laws, DPH requirements, and lead-safe work practices. 

Outreach and Partnership Development

• Build relationships with municipalities, healthcare organizations, community-based organizations, inspectors, contractors, and other referral partners. 
• Conduct outreach to increase awareness of lead hazards and available remediation resources. 
• Represent Revitalize CDC at community events, meetings, trainings, and partner activities. 
• Help develop clear and accessible educational and outreach materials. 
• Support efforts to reach families with young children and households at elevated risk of lead exposure. 

Required Qualifications 

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple households, properties, deadlines, and project stages simultaneously. 
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
• Ability to explain technical or regulatory information in clear, accessible language. 
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation. 
• Ability to work effectively with homeowners, tenants, landlords, contractors, inspectors, government agencies, and community partners. 
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and households experiencing financial or housing-related challenges. 
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. 
• Comfort conducting outreach, following up consistently, and navigating challenging or sensitive conversations. 
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, databases, and electronic record keeping systems. 
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout Western Massachusetts and other service areas as needed. 
• Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend community events. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in housing rehabilitation, lead-hazard reduction, construction coordination, public health, environmental health, community development, case management, or a related field. 
• Knowledge of Massachusetts lead laws, deleading requirements, or lead-safe renovation practices. 
• Experience administering a publicly funded housing, health, or community-development program. 
• Experience working with contractors, inspectors, property owners, and regulatory agencies. 
• Familiarity with grant compliance, project documentation, and outcome reporting. 
• Bachelor’s degree in public health, environmental health, construction management, community development, social services, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
• Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly Spanish, are highly valued. 

Training and Professional Development

The selected candidate will be required to complete and pass the Massachusetts Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor training course and fulfill any additional requirements necessary to obtain the applicable state licensure or certification. Revitalize CDC will support the employee through the required training and credentialing process. The employee will also participate in ongoing professional development related to Massachusetts lead regulations, lead-hazard identification and remediation, lead-safe work practices, grant compliance, and other relevant topics. Maintaining all required licenses or certifications in good standing will be an ongoing expectation of this position. Physical and Work Requirements This position includes a combination of office work, community outreach, and visits to residential properties and construction sites. The employee must be able to: 

• Travel between the office, residential properties, partner locations, and community events. 
• Walk through residential properties that may have stairs, uneven surfaces, construction activity, dust, or other environmental conditions. 
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment when required. 
• Occasionally lift and carry program materials or supplies weighing up to approximately 25 pounds. 
• Work at a computer and communicate by telephone and email for extended periods.
