Job Summary Registered Nurse – Medical Unit (Cardiac Telemetry) – Shift 7:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. – Full Time 36 hrs/week. Works at Summa Health Systems, Akron Campus. Patient Population & Unit Details Blended acuity patient population with focus on cardiac telemetry. Unit size: 30 beds. Target nurse‑to‐patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6, subject to change. Highlights Collaborative team environment. $5 / hr shift differential for nights; $1 / hr for weekends. 12‑month Nurse Residency Program for new graduates. Responsibilities Provides, coordinates, and delegates nursing care while managing resources to deliver care for patients, families, and the community, aiming to attain, maintain, and restore optimum health. Uses knowledge of nursing principles, evidence, and theory to support patient outcomes. Education & Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but must obtain BSN within 3 years. Graduated from a program accredited by CCNE or ACEN. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio. Experience & Training PRN RNs must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice. One year of related RN experience required for weekend option positions. Additional related experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units. Core Skills, Competencies & Qualifications Full range of body motion; handling and lifting patients; manual, finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Capacity to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazardous conditions common to clinical environments. Maintenance of current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. New nurses in critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first six months. RNs hired into ACLS‑required areas must possess ACLS certification upon hire or complete it within six weeks. Population‑specific competencies: ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations; additional education or certifications (e.g., PALS, NIH, crisis intervention) may be required. Physical Demands Heavy: May require exerting 50‑100 lb of force occasionally or 25‑50 lb frequently, and/or 10‑20 lb continuously to move objects. Compensation Hourly rate: $33.75 / hr – $53.00 / hr (base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials; range factors include experience and location).
