APP (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant)- Gynecology Multi-Site- FT Day (8 Hours)

Job Overview Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP). The NP functions under a job description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Responsibilities include routine assessment and management of patients with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with supervising physician, and through implementation of standardized procedures. Responsibilities Provide only those medical services that are consistent with the NP’s education, training and experience and are performed under the supervision of a physician who is responsible for patients cared for by that NP. Consult with a physician regarding any task, procedure or diagnostic problem that exceeds the NP’s level of competence or refer such cases to a collaborating physician. Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty, according to written standardized procedures (See Appendix A: Assessment & Management of Patients). Obtain complete histories and perform pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients. Perform or request and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated. Administer, order, furnish and prescribe medications, in accordance with written standardized procedures (See Appendix B: Administering, Ordering, Furnishing or Prescribing of Drugs; Formulary Protocol). Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products. Order physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations and nursing services. Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable. Obtain informed consent as indicated. Initiate arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and complete appropriate paperwork. Enroll patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB) and order required tests and medications. Assist supervising physician in the operating room under appropriate supervision. Facilitate coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services, and collaborate between providers and community resources. Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and clinical policies and procedures. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. (NPs hired prior to March1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement.) Graduate of an NP program accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Registered Nurse (RN) state licensure and NP‑Filing number (NPF). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Licenses & Certifications Nursing/RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure; NP – Nurse Practitioner and NPF – NP Furnishing Number; BLS – Basic Life Support. Compensation Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $89.01 – $117.94 per hour. Salary is determined based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
