Transfusion Services ONLY (no other departments in lab) Please limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays Orientation/Start Date held every other week on Mondays Years of experience REQ: 3 Years First-timers accepted: NO – must have some travel experience Every other weekend required Certs REQ: ASCP; State Licensed (WV) Skill Requirements: Work Settings - Hospital Clinical Laboratory Blood Bank - ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID; AHG Crossmatch; Antibody Typing: Tube Method; Antigen Typing; Blood banking procedures; Cold Agglutinins; Crossmatch-Immediate Spin/IgG; Direct Coombs (DAT); Indirect Coombs Test; Patient identification process; Plateletpheresis; Rhogam Screening; Thawing/Cooling of Blood Products; Transfusion Reaction Workup; Specimen Processing/Handling - Accessioning; Pipetting; Specimen Receipt; Reporting Test Results; Specimen Transport (preferred) Professional Knowledge & Skills - Blood Specimen Storage; Hazardous materials and MSDS; Proper disposal; Proper labeling; Quality assurance and controls; Transmission based precautions Special Procedures/Unit Details: Gel automation (Vision), manual gel and tube testing. In-depth antibody identification. Type and Screen; Antibody identification; antigen typing; direct coombs; eluates; antibody titers; crossmatching; preparation of platelet pheresis/thawing of plasma and cryo; dispensing products; specimen processing/handling Special Equipment: vision, helmer thawers, helmer refrigerators / freezers/ platelet rotators, helmer cellwashers, helmer centrifuges, COBE/IBM unit cellwasher, MTS gel pipette, Ortho manual gel workstations Blocked Schedule requests considered - discuss in interview 100mi. Radius Rule (75-99mi. can be sent for facility approval) WV License required – can submit with pending RTO Restrictions: None, must include on application/profile and discuss with manager during interview Guaranteed Hours: 40hrs Submission Requirements: Perm employees cannot return to CAMC as a traveler for 2 Years after last day worked perm Flu Shot: Please DO NOT SEND ANYONE WHO REFUSES FLU SHOT WITHOUT MEDICAL PROOF. CAMC requires all personnel take flu vaccine unless they have allergy documented by an allergist or physician record. CAMC FLU SEASON IS OCTOBER 1st - MARCH 31st. NOT REQUIRED OUTSIDE OF THAT WINDOW.
