Quality Technician

This is a contract to hire opportunity for a Quality Technician who will play a key role in supplier quality, inspection support, and compliance activities. The role focuses on documenting and resolving nonconformances, supporting quality systems and audits, and ensuring adherence to industry standards in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with receiving inspection to document supplier nonconformances in the Intelex database.
• Assist in issuing supplier nonconformances and follow up in the Intelex database to ensure suppliers provide timely responses within documented lead times.
• Review supplier root cause analyses and corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and close nonconformances in the Intelex database as required.
• Assist in creating certification packages, first article documentation, and configuration audits as needed.
• Support the Quality Manager in reviewing and approving supplier PPAPs.
• Contact suppliers to obtain and maintain their Quality System Certificates for the Supplier Master List.
• Create and revise quality documents to ensure continued compliance with AS9100, and submit them to the Chief Inspector for approval.
• Perform root cause and corrective action activities for delivery errors in the Intelex database, using methods such as 8D and 5-Why analysis.

• Create and update process flow charts and control plans, and train plant personnel on new revisions.
• Support the Chief Inspector by delivering initial, recurrent, and annual compliance training.
• Support the Chief Inspector in conducting PFMEA reviews.
• Support the Part Production Approval Process (PPAP), including gage R&R studies and capability studies for customers when process, supplier, or material changes occur.
• Manage the audit process for both Quality and EHS areas, ensuring audits are performed and completed according to the yearly schedule.
• Identify root causes and corrective actions for audit findings and verify that corrective actions are effective in preventing recurrence.
• Present audit and corrective action work to second- and third-party auditors.
• Follow all plant safety regulations at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the quality function and overall operations.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with inspection and quality control in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, gages, and other precision measurement tools.
• Proficiency in quality inspection, including visual inspection and inspection of parts.
• Knowledge of in-process and final inspection practices.
• Understanding of quality standards and quality assurance principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and planning requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to delegate work to meet scheduled delivery dates.
• Ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to pass a near vision eye test to Jaeger 1 and a color perception assessment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
• Experience working with Intelex or similar quality and EHS management software.
• Knowledge of PPAP processes, including gage R&R and capability studies.
• Experience conducting or supporting PFMEA reviews.
• Experience in managing or supporting quality and EHS audits.
• Understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and 5-Why analysis.
• Ability to train plant personnel on process changes, flow charts, control plans, and compliance topics.

This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility with all necessary tools provided., with additional weekend hours as needed. The dress code is business casual, with a blue coat worn in the work area, and steel-toe footwear is required. The role involves lifting up to 50 pounds and working in an environment that maintains compliance with relevant aviation regulations. The setting supports detailed inspection work, use of precision measurement equipment, and collaboration with quality and EHS teams in a structured, safety-focused environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
