Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, including initial assessments and ongoing progress evaluations to ensure tailored care.

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on client evaluations that incorporate evidence-based interventions and therapeutic techniques.
\n
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, using modalities that may include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and supportive counseling.

• Regularly track client progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans while documenting developments meticulously in electronic health records.
\n
• Network and collaborate with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and social workers, to coordinate holistic treatment strategies for clients.

• Provide psychoeducation to clients and their families regarding mental health conditions, coping mechanisms, and recovery strategies to enhance understanding and involvement in the therapeutic process.

• Proactively identify potential barriers to recovery and employ effective strategies to overcome these challenges.

• Maintain regular follow-up communications with clients and relevant healthcare professionals regarding continuing care and support needs.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your work will center around a diverse clientele, including individuals, couples, families, and groups facing a variety of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction disorders. Being adaptable and culturally competent will be essential, as clients come from various backgrounds, each with unique experiences and needs.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is mandatory.

• Possession of an active and valid license as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State.

• A strong foundation demonstrated by passing scores on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

• Excellence in communication both verbally and in writing, ensuring that clinical documentation is thorough and clear.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills that allow for the establishment of trusting relationships with clients, families, and colleagues alike.

Preferred Experience\n

• Prior experience as a mental health counselor in outpatient settings is preferred.

• Familiarity with electronic health records systems, especially AVATAR, to facilitate efficient clinical documentation and record-keeping.

• Experience addressing co-occurring disorders related to mental health and substance use.

• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices as recommended by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• Understanding of the impact of various pharmacological treatments prescribed by medical specialists on mental health conditions.
