Contract Personal Injury Litigation Attorney About the Opportunity

Direct Counsel is seeking a Contract Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to support a busy plaintiff-side personal injury law firm in Woodland Hills. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with litigation experience who can quickly integrate into an active team and assist with a high-volume caseload.

The firm maintains a collaborative litigation practice with dedicated trial attorneys and experienced support staff. This role will focus primarily on depositions, discovery, motion practice, and case management. Trial experience is welcome but not required, as matters may be transitioned to the firm's trial team when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a personal injury litigation caseload from filing through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial handoff

• Take and defend depositions, including plaintiffs, defendants, experts, and fact witnesses

• Draft and respond to written discovery, including discovery motions

• Draft and, where appropriate, argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions

• Develop case strategy in collaboration with the firm's litigation team

• Prepare matters for mediation, arbitration, and trial handoff, including organizing evidence, witnesses, and damages presentations

• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and internal team members

• Work closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure deadlines are met and files remain organized

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school

• Active California Bar membership in good standing

• 3+ years of litigation experience , with personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred

• Candidates with strong civil litigation experience and a demonstrated ability to transition into personal injury litigation will also be considered

• Experience handling written discovery, depositions, and motion practice

• Ability to independently manage litigation matters appropriate to experience level

• Strong written and oral advocacy skills

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management

Preferred Qualifications

• Plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience, including automobile, premises liability, or catastrophic injury matters

• Experience working in a fast-paced litigation environment

• Strong client communication and case management skills

• Ability to quickly adapt to an existing litigation team and contribute immediately

Trial Involvement

• This position is primarily focused on litigation, discovery, depositions, and case development.

• Trial work may be available depending on experience and the firm's needs, though cases may also be transitioned to the firm's dedicated trial attorneys.
