Organizational Location: This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, in McLean, Virginia. This is a non-bargaining unit position. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within the National Capital Region. You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Conducting advanced analyses to develop and identify friction ridges on complex evidence by utilizing a full range of scientific methodologies and forensic techniques; Providing technical advice, casework assistance, and support to less experienced specialists and trainees; Serving as a case manager to plan and coordinate forensic friction ridge activities; and Ensuring laboratory procedures, forensic examinations, and evidence handling protocols are current and are within the scope of relevant scientific communities. Additional Requirements: In addition to meeting the specialized experience detailed above, you must also possess certification in latent print examination by the International Association for Identification (IAI), or otherwise possess a current professionally recognized equivalent certification. It is preferred the incumbent hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have no less than 5 years of experience performing duties as they pertain to friction ridge analysis. A bachelor's degree is commensurate to 9 years of experience performing duties as they pertain to friction ridge analysis.
