Position Summary

Help girls understand what it means to be a girl-leader who makes a difference in the world! Guide a group of girls in 6-week, after-school troops for girls in grades K-6, providing pre-planned curriculum at each site to help girls participate in age-appropriate activities focused on helping them explore their community and their world. 

As a Girl in ACTION Facilitator, you will be a role model to youth in your community, fostering a positive learning environment, and teaching exciting lessons in STEAM, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Life and Outdoor Skills. Girl Scouts of Wisconsin-Badgerland will provide facilitator training and supplies to help you lead fun-filled, educational after-school troops. 

In addition to the core responsibilities of the Girl in ACTION Facilitator, the Program Lead will take on additional leadership responsibilities, contributing to the development, planning, and execution of the program curriculum. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy creative problem-solving, brainstorming new activities, and contributing to the growth and effectiveness of the program.

Job Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Salary: $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 5-20 hours per week
Location: Madison, WI

Duties and Responsibilities

• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with program leadership to help create and refine the Girl Scouts in ACTION curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, educational, and aligned with Girl Scouts' leadership goals and themes. 
• Program Planning: Design and construct new activities, challenges, and learning experiences for girls based on age-appropriate themes in Leadership, STEAM, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills, and Outdoor Skills.
• Program Execution: Facilitate or oversee program delivery at a local site as needed, in line with the overall program schedule. 
• Material Preparation: Oversee the preparation, assembly, and distribution of materials needed for each session, ensuring that facilitators have the tools they need to deliver a smooth and effective program. 
• Leadership and Mentorship: Support other facilitators by providing guidance on activity execution, troubleshooting any program delivery issues, and ensuring consistency across different program locations. 
• Evaluation & Feedback: Assist in the evaluation of program activities, incorporating feedback from facilitators, girls, and parents to continuously improve the program. 
• Relationship Building: Develop positive relationships with youth in their program, parents, and school staff. Cultivate and maintain relationships with local schools, parent organizations and community organizations
• Administration: Ensure required paperwork is completed by girls, families and/or site staff to include daily student attendance, registration forms, outcomes surveys, and other reporting documents.
• Recruitment: Deliver informational presentations for girls and adults through the identified sites to recruit girls and adult volunteers.
• Work within the established budget and maintain expenses and receipts as needed.
• Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and Wisconsin Badgerland Girl Scouts mission, vision, and values. 

Education or Experience

• High School diploma/equivalent or Associate’s Degree in Education, Communications, Social Work, or related field. 
• 1+ years of experience working with school-aged children, at summer camp or after school programs.
• Other combinations of education, with relevant experience that demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position, will be considered.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. 
• Demonstrated ability and sensitivity working with youth and persons of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience working with cloud-based platforms, and Salesforce preferred.  
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with a bias towards execution and action.
• Outstanding project management skills and operates with an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Skilled relationship builder with a demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across difference and across every level of the organization.
• A proactive team player willing to pitch in at all levels while also holding a big picture, systems thinking mindset.
• Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of curiosity and a learning orientation; someone who leads and operates with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and discretion.
• Spanish/Bilingual skills a plus.
• Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience is not required. 

Other Requirements  

• At least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to frequently work irregular hours, including evenings.
• Anticipated time away from office is 75%.
• Possess a valid drivers’ License and proof of insurance.
• Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site. 

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:

1. Must be able to work in an outside environment, where you have the ability to walk/hike daily, at various grades, elevations, and on uneven terrain.
2. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
3. Operate office equipment manually.
4. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
