Pediatric Cardiologist, Director Of Fetal Cardiology
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking an outstanding pediatric cardiologist to serve as Director of Fetal Cardiology within our nationally recognized Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
We are recruiting a physician with expertise in fetal cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging who is passionate about delivering exceptional clinical care, advancing multidisciplinary collaboration, and leading a growing fetal cardiovascular program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team dedicated to improving outcomes for fetuses and newborns with congenital and acquired heart disease through innovative care, education, and program development.
The ideal candidate will have advanced training in fetal echocardiography and congenital cardiac imaging, a commitment to family-centered care, and experience collaborating across specialties to manage complex fetal and neonatal cardiac conditions. Individuals with demonstrated leadership experience and a vision for program growth are especially encouraged to apply.

- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
- Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Assistant Professor (CHS), Visiting Professor, or Visiting Associate Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest (CHS Track only)
Participate in outpatient pediatric cardiology practice, including general cardiology and/or subspecialty clinics based on expertise and interests.
Expand and enhance fetal cardiovascular services, including outreach, quality improvement initiatives, and program development.
Lead multidisciplinary fetal care conferences and contributing to the development of integrated care pathways for complex fetal cardiac patients.
Support perioperative care within a growing congenital heart surgery program that is experiencing increasing surgical complexity and patient acuity.
Partner closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Neonatology, Genetics, Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and other specialties to coordinate comprehensive care for fetuses and newborns with cardiovascular disease.
Deliver high-quality fetal and pediatric echocardiography services, with opportunities to incorporate advanced imaging techniques such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and 3D/4D imaging based on training and interest.
Provide interpretation of all modalities of congenital and pediatric echocardiograms fetal, transthoracic, and transesophageal echocardiography. Additional responsibilities include outpatient ambulatory cardiology clinic and inpatient service attending.
Engage in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (applicable to Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track)). An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the fetal cardiology program.

The division recognizes that excellence in pediatric cardiovascular medicine and surgery requires a well-coordinated team approach to care. Important contributors to divisional activities include physicians (pediatric specialists in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care medicine, anesthesiology and perfusion, and maternal fetal medicine, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, echocardiography technicians, exercise physiologists, and our patients, their families, and their referring physicians. Required Qualifications:
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology through the American Board of Pediatrics is required by appointment start date.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology is required by the appointment start date.
- Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required by the start date of the position.
- WI Medical license by start date of position.
- Board-certified or board eligible in Pediatrics by start date of position.
- Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of advanced fellowship training in pediatric/congenital echocardiography, fetal cardiology, or advanced cardiac imaging by the appointment start date.
- Significant expertise in fetal echocardiography and the management of complex fetal cardiovascular disease by the appointment start date.
- Prior leadership experience in fetal cardiology, cardiac imaging, or program development by the appointment start date.
- Experience practicing in a high-volume congenital heart center with expertise in complex neonatal and infant cardiac surgery by the appointment start date.
- Interest in clinical research, innovation, and programmatic growth by the appointment start date.
- For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.
