The Senior Accountant plays a critical role within our U.S. accounting team. This individual will be responsible for highly visible accounting areas and will be supported directly by the Accounting Manager. We are looking for a team player who is ready to support our next phase of growth at Samsara by working through complex areas efficiently and effectively, including through the adoption and use of AI tools. In this role, you will: Own end-to-end GL month-end close activities across complex, high-visibility account areas, including preparation and review of account reconciliations. Demonstrate deep ownership of assigned areas, which may include internal-use software, inventory, deferred commissions, marketable securities, investments, complex bank account arrangements, and AP/AR-related accounts. Apply technical accounting judgment to evaluate transactions, research U.S. GAAP guidance (including ASC 842, ASC 360, ASC 350, and others), and document conclusions in clear, audit-ready memos. Serve as a cross‑functional business partner to teams including procure-to-pay, treasury, payroll, sales compensation, order-to-cash, and supply chain – anticipating issues before they become problems. Lead and drive process improvement initiatives – owning the design and implementation of scalable solutions using AI and other automation tools. Support external audit by preparing PBC schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and maintaining an organized, well‑documented set of workpapers. Collaborate actively with team members sharing knowledge and driving continuous improvement through scalable process and tooling enhancements that reduce manual effort and improve team efficiency. Evaluate and champion the adoption of AI and automation tools to reduce manual effort and improve close quality. Champion, role‑model and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (focus on customer success, build for the long term, adopt a growth mindset, be inclusive, win as a team) as we scale globally. Minimum requirements for the role: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in both public accounting and industry. Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of operational accounting processes (accruals, account reconciliation, month‑end/year‑end close). Must collaborate and communicate effectively. An ideal candidate also has: CPA (or equivalent) or interest in obtaining CPA. Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies. Must be a fast learner with a strong desire to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience with NetSuite. Experience supporting external audit. Experience with AI tools such as Claude, Gem, Glean. Critical thinking skills, able to implement scalable processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow‑through.
