Clinical Instructor of Medicine (Practitioner)

Overview The University of Southern California (USC) is a large private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking applicants to fill the position of Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the Division of Medical Oncology. Under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, the NP/PA performs physical examinations and treats common episodic and chronic health care problems, counsels patients and families, monitors patient progress, and assists with clinical research projects. The NP/PA works in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of oncology patients. Successful candidates will have strong clinical skills and an interest in serving a diverse patient population in private clinical practice. This position will be hired as a clinical instructor. Responsibilities Perform physical examinations and address common episodic and chronic health care problems under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures. Counsel patients and families, monitor patient progress, and assist with clinical research projects. Collaborate with health care team members, with responsibility for ongoing clinical management of oncology patients. Qualifications / Requirements Possession of a current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Current and valid California State RN and Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant licenses; Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Clinical nursing experience. Fire and safety certification is required; if not held at hire, it must be obtained within approximately 4.5 weeks and renewed before expiration.
