Maintenance SpecialistAs a Maintenance Specialist, you will work outdoors year-round in Arizona's desert environment, taking a hands-on role in building and maintaining the flood control structures that protect our communities. Your skilled construction and maintenance expertise directly supports public safety while preserving the natural landscape.Beyond flood protection, the Flood Control District maintains multi-use facilities, including hiking trails, bike paths, and open spaces that enhance the quality of life across Maricopa County. This is more than a maintenance role; it's an opportunity to strengthen infrastructure, to protect neighborhoods, and care for community spaces residents use and value every day. The Flood Control District of Maricopa County provides essential public services to residents and visitors, which may require employees to work alternate work schedules. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZWe RequireTwo years of experience using a variety of semi-skilled repair and trades tasks in a construction and maintenance environmentHigh school diploma or GEDMust possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)State and federal regulations require Maricopa County to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver's license (CDL). Familiarity with four-wheel-drive capabilities and self-recovery winching techniques will be needed from time to time.Protective Equipment RequiredFieldwork will often be conducted in remote locations under potentially extreme weather environments. Attire for the position will be provided and maintained by Maricopa County and may include general construction and/or field inspection PPE required to perform duties daily.
