Candidate Physical Location: The Press Hotel, Portland, ME 04101, USA Description The Press Hotel in Portland, Maine, newly owned and managed by EOS Hospitality, is seeking a Host to join their team of hospitality professionals at Union restaurant. Full time hours are available with morning and evening shift availability. This hourly role has a wage of $18.00 per hour, plus a portion of service tip pool. Job Summary Greet, kindly direct, and seat guests at assigned tables based on reservations and walk-in seating. Maximize guest seating options and revenues by diligently managing the reservations program (Resi). Contact guests as needed to move, confirm, or adjust reservations. Support servers and bartenders with service needs in between seating guests and after all reservations have been seated. Assist with promptly resetting tables to standard. Communicate any reservations notes to server assigned to table (celebrations, preferences, etc.) Complete all daily side work tasks efficiently and thoroughly. Set up host stand, clean menus, light candles, and complete side work tasks. Take in person and over the phone to-go orders and in-room dining orders. Process payment securely, collect final bill, and coordinate handoff to guest. Restock host stand with clean menus, pens, charged tablet, trash removal, etc. daily. Keep host area clean and tidy at all times. Be proactive in seeking out additional duties such as wiping down menus, sweeping, cleaning kitchen doors, etc. Check out with manager once shift is complete. Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions. Professionally handle guest complaints, solve problems, apologize/emphasize during guest complaints, follow up. Communicate any elevated complaints that could not be resolved to Food & Beverage management. Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration. Key Skills & Requirements Prior experience as a host or in a restaurant setting highly preferred Successful completion of background check A highly-detailed person with passion for excellence Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends. Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion. Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.
