Job Summary And Responsibilities As our Environmental Service Technician, you will be responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While performing your assigned responsibilities, you will interact with patients, visitors, and both clinical and non‑clinical staff. You will also ensure timely room turnovers related to patients within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The Environmental Services Technician, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience. Every day you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing environment in a healthcare setting. To be successful, you must be proficient in cleaning and infection control protocols, prioritize safety and waste management, consistently follow all guidelines, maintain a strong work ethic, be accountable, and communicate effectively. Responsibilities Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas. Perform duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Display safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment. Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up. Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (e.g., regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
