Ballot Adjudication Specialist
Supports the ballot review process by using adjudication software to review ballots flagged for further evaluation and apply applicable election procedures, including NRS-based adjudication standards. This role requires careful judgment, consistency, confidentiality, and strict nonpartisan conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Review ballot images or ballot records presented through adjudication software and determine the appropriate action according to training, law, and County procedure.

- Record adjudication decisions accurately in the designated system and maintain complete, auditable records of each decision.
- Escalate unclear, disputed, or unusual ballots to the designated supervisor rather than making unsupported assumptions.
- Maintain ballot secrecy, voter confidentiality, and chain-of-custody controls throughout the adjudication process.
- Work collaboratively with adjudication team members while maintaining independent judgment and nonpartisan conduct.
- Assist with quality checks, batch reconciliation, and other ballot-processing support tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to sustain concentration during repetitive review work. Sound judgment and decision-making under clear procedural rules.
- Ability to learn and accurately use election adjudication software and related computer systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially when documenting exceptions or asking for clarification.
- Team-oriented approach, patience, confidentiality, and demonstrated ability to remain nonpartisan.
Minimum Qualifications and Compliance Requirements
- Valid Nevada ID or Driver's License.
Background check and drug screening required before assignment.
- Registered Clark County voter and willing to disclose political affiliation if required for the assignment.
- Must complete all required County training before performing adjudication work independently.
Schedule and Working Conditions
- Primarily computer-based work in a secure election processing environment.
- May require prolonged sitting, frequent screen review, and careful handling of confidential election materials.
Must be available to work through the election cycle with limited requested days off.
- Must be available for schedule needs that may include 8-10 hour shifts, weekends, flexible start and end times, overtime, and extended hours on specific event days, especially Election Day.
- Must remain reliable, punctual, and responsive to assignment changes during a fast-paced, deadline-driven election environment.
- Must follow County security rules, workplace policies, chain-of-custody expectations, confidentiality requirements, dress code, and professional conduct standards.
Performance Expectations
- Completes assigned work accurately, on time, and in accordance with training and County procedures.
- Maintains nonpartisan conduct, voter confidentiality, ballot security, and respectful service at all times.
Escalates exceptions, voter issues, equipment concerns, safety concerns, and unclear instructions promptly to the designated supervisor or lead. Accurately documents work performed, materials handled, calls received, records updated, and/or batch activity as applicable to the assignment.
