Responsibilities Oversee and manage all aspects of food service operations for the facility. Lead food service staff, including chefs, cooks, servers, and other personnel. Delegate tasks to ensure smooth workflow and productivity. Performance management. Conduct evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Operations and budgeting. Manage day-to-day operations, inventory, budgets, expenses, and financial data analysis to support cost control and fiscal goals. Quality and service. Monitor quality control, presentation, and customer service across dining and service areas. Collaboration. Communicate openly with management and staff; work with management on goals and objectives. Essential Job Functions (EJFs) Attend work regularly and be available for assigned shifts, including rotating, extended, or overtime as required by policy. Set goals and provide ongoing guidance, training, and mentorship to food service staff; ensure proper training in food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Oversee all aspects of food service operations, including meal preparation, service delivery, inventory, and facility maintenance. Prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and monitor progress; assign tasks to staff with appropriate skills; establish deadlines. Define performance standards and schedule formal evaluations; collect performance data from multiple sources. Supervise meal preparation to ensure adherence to recipes, portions, and quality; coordinate production schedules and conduct quality checks; monitor dining areas for cleanliness and hygiene compliance. Gather data on financial performance, costs, and labor; work with management to set budget parameters and cost controls. Schedule regular meetings to discuss updates, goals, and concerns. Qualifications and KSAs Knowledge of safe handling and food preparation procedures in a restaurant environment. Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to restaurant operations. Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in quantity food preparation. Knowledge of food storage and preservation. Skills in operating, cleaning, and sanitizing food service equipment. Skills in cash handling and cash register reconciliation. Skills in computer use and applicable software. Ability to calculate food requirements; maintain accurate records and inventories; prepare requisitions. Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Registrations, Licensure or Certifications Texas Food Protection Manager Certification or obtain within three (3) months of hire. Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain within 90 days to drive a state vehicle. Out-of-state driving records may be required per HHSC policy. Screening and Additional Information Initial screening criteria: three (3) years of experience in food service overseeing others; hospital setting experience preferred. Applicants must pass fingerprint background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, LEIE). Age requirements: at least 18 years; some locations may require 21. Flexibility in work hours; overtime or extended hours may be required.
