Job Description
This role focuses on the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal components used in construction and mechanical systems. You will set up and operate a variety of metal fabricating equipment, shape and join sheet metal parts, and ensure all finished products meet quality and safety standards. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.

Job Description
This role focuses on the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal components used in construction and mechanical systems. You will set up and operate a variety of metal fabricating equipment, shape and join sheet metal parts, and ensure all finished products meet quality and safety standards. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret work orders and drawings accurately in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal in accordance with product specifications.
- Shape sheet metal using brakes, rollers, and other forming equipment to produce precise components and assemblies.
- Use welding equipment to join sheet metal parts, ensuring strong, clean, and structurally sound welds.
- Inspect, assemble, and finish sheet metal parts, smoothing seams and joints and removing burrs from surfaces.
- Install assemblies such as flashing, wall panels, insulation, and heating and air conditioning ducts within supportive frameworks.
- Select appropriate gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic materials based on work orders and product requirements.
- Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets, maintaining accurate spacing and alignment.
- Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts using hand tools and portable power tools.
- Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute fabrication and installation tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in the manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of sheet metal experience is preferred, including hands-on fabrication and installation work.
- Proficiency in sheet metal fabrication techniques such as cutting, bending, straightening, and forming.
- Ability to set up and operate fabricating machines, brakes, rollers, drills, and punching equipment.
- Experience with duct work fabrication and installation, including heating and air conditioning duct systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders, drawings, and product specifications.
- Skill in using welding equipment to join sheet metal parts safely and effectively.
- Strong ability to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth metal surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.
- Knowledge of metal carpentry and metal framing practices in construction and fabrication settings.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise metal components.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and follow established safety protocols.
- Experience working as a steel fabricator or in construction-related metal fabrication roles.
- Experience in metal carpentry, including framing and installation of sheet metal assemblies.
- Familiarity with various gauges and types of sheet metal and non-metallic materials used in fabrication.
- Comfort working with both manual and powered tools in a production environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to different fabrication and installation requirements.
- Reliable work habits and the ability to collaborate with other team members in a manufacturing setting.
