Estimator

Job Summary The Estimator is responsible for estimating and performing cost analysis on all types of electrical construction projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Review and evaluate project plans & specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents to identify what is needed for a project and to create a bid proposal. Calculate the cost of electrical construction based on reviewing & evaluating available documents. Analyze projects for value‑engineering options while taking into account specific job conditions that may affect labor & material to be purchased & installed. Identify any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the bid documents. Identify strategies to create bid advantages. Anticipate potential problems and devise proactive solutions. Request material & equipment quotes from vendors and supplies. Review quotes to confirm adherence to quote requests & accuracy. Develop & maintain positive relationships with vendors. Prepare bid documents including specific scope letter for each project, “Blue Sheets” & “Evaluations” with adjustments for buy‑outs, labor rate, productivity, etc. Assist in preparing budget pricing. Keep Dynalectric management, project management, clients, general contractors, and all others involved in projects current on bid progress. Qualifications At least 5–10 years of experience in estimating & or electrical industry role. BSc/BA in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Knowledgeable with a wide variety of electrical materials & methods of installation. Proven successful experience in the following estimating market sectors: Large Mission‑Critical projects. Healthcare. Multi‑story/Mixed‑use Commercial buildings. Proficient in Bluebeam Review (preferred). Proficient with Microsoft Office & Accubid Classic/Pro estimating software. Accubid Live Count experience is a plus. Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written & communication skills. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Estimator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Estimator is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift & or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift & or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception & ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Mostly office based. Typical working hours may vary. Generally Monday–Friday during normal business hours, but when deadlines approach, they may be required to work longer hours, including some weekend work. Some travel may be required for training & continuing education. Direct Reports None.
