Travel PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Shreveport, LA

Start a 13-week PCU travel assignment on 10/05/2026 at a leading facility in Shreveport, Louisiana. Shift: 12-hour nights

Hours/Week: 36–48 hours per week; 3 shifts one week and 4 shifts the next

What You'll Do

Provide nursing care for patients in cardiac and medical progressive care settings.

Monitor and manage patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions, including respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-surgical needs.

Titrate cardiac, insulin, and vasopressor infusions according to patient needs and facility protocols.

Manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains, wounds, and other advanced care equipment.

Perform cardiac-focused care, including management of venous sheaths, TR Bands, and temporary pacemakers when applicable.

Complete ongoing assessments, frequent monitoring, interventions, medication administration, and accurate documentation.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to support safe, effective patient outcomes.

What You Need

Required:

Current Registered Nurse license.

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

At least 2 years of PCU RN experience.

First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff acute-care RN experience.

General PCU skills, including cardiac and insulin drip titration, vasopressor management, chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains, and wound care.

Successful completion of an EKG competency exam before arrival.

Ability to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays.

Preferred:

LVAD certification for assignments on the cardiac stepdown unit.

Experience with cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization interventions, temporary pacemakers, and advanced cardiac monitoring.

About the Assignment You'll be assigned to a cardiac or medical stepdown unit supporting patients who require progressive care and frequent monitoring. Patient ratios are approximately 1:3–4, with possible floating to another medical stepdown unit or medical-surgical unit. The assignment includes a 2-day hospital orientation and 2 unit orientation shifts, with no on-call requirement.
