Maintenance Person IIIThe Maintenance Person III performs any mechanical maintenance, repair, modifications, and installation work as directed on plant buildings, machinery, dust collectors, lubrication. Maintenance/repairs include welding and cutting as needed.Responsibilities:Read blueprints and use shop mathematicsDiagnose and troubleshoot problems; determines appropriate repair measuresUnderstand and follow proper rigging and lifting proceduresMust have a thorough working knowledge of mechanical methodsParticipation in job-related trainingPlan and lead work of a skilled crew for maximum safety and efficiency with minimal supervisionEnsure compliance with all federal, state, local labor, safety, and environmental regulationsEducation:High school diploma/GEDRequirements/Qualifications:Self-starterMust possess the dexterity necessary to perform all tasksAbility to use various hand tools and equipment as necessaryPhysical requirements: working in confined spaces, welding, cutting, ability to lift over 50 lbs., and climb up to elevations of 100 ft.Ability to climb stairs/ladders, and walk on uneven or rough terrainAbility to work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain) for shifts up to 12 hours in lengthSolid mechanical/control system skills, and the ability to train othersAble to work effectively both individually and as part of a teamStrong communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with mine site safety rules and regulationsMust complete CalPortland's Maintenance training programPreferred: Cement plant experience a plus Mining experience or other experiences that require welding, fabricating, belt splicing Familiarity working around crushers, screens, sand screws, etc.Conditions of Employment:Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
