Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description

Join a precision aerospace manufacturing machine shop as a CNC Machinist, where you will set up and operate CNC equipment, interpret detailed blueprints, and ensure parts meet exacting specifications. This role focuses on producing high-quality components using 3- and 5-axis CNC machines and lathes while supporting continuous improvement of machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining equipment, including 3- and 5-axis machines and CNC lathes.

• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

• Monitor machining operations to ensure consistent part quality and adherence to close tolerances.

• Perform routine equipment maintenance to keep machines in optimal operating condition.

• Inspect finished parts to verify they meet all dimensional and quality specifications.

• Support machining process improvements by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

• Use CNC programming tools and software to adjust programs as needed for optimal performance.

• Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience setting up and operating CNC machines, including 3- and 5-axis equipment.

• Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes in a production environment.

• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.

• Strong understanding of close tolerances and precision machining requirements.

• Experience with CNC programming and making program adjustments during production.

• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for machining processes and equipment issues.

• Capability to monitor part quality and perform detailed inspections against specifications.

• Ability to perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and related equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an aerospace machine shop or other high-precision manufacturing environment.

• Familiarity with Gibbs or similar CNC programming software.

• Comfort working with both 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centers.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.

• Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives within the machining process.

Work Environment

Work in a dedicated aerospace machine shop environment focused on precision machining and high-quality production standards. The role follows a structured schedule with a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or a night shift from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Overtime is typically available on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or by starting earlier on weekdays as needed. The environment centers on operating CNC machines and lathes, adhering to strict aerospace quality requirements and close tolerances.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Torrance, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
